A few of the many interesting outfits scarlett has worn lately!

Scarlett is really in to dressing up lately so i thought i would post a few of her favorite outfits.

i just got back from a long long vacation. i was gone almost two weeks by myself with the kids. mike had to stay home and work and i needed to get a break so me and the kids went to dallas to see some of my family that i havnt seen in 10 years or more, and then we went to my dads house to visit them and my grandparents. it was a lot of fun but i am glad to be home.here are some pictures from our trip.

we stopped by africa on our way to houston and took a picture by an elephant really quick before he charged us.


these are my cousins boys and my kids. owen and rhett are the only ones that like to pose for the camera...the other two only like to make silly faces...so i took what i could get. the the bottom picture is scarlett and rhett. ha ha.
here is scarlett in owens carseat. it was so funny to just see a head sticking out.
this was on our way to dallas, we are in my parents RV. it was a great way to travel with little kids. however i have a tip if you ever travel in an RV:hold on to something if you feel the need to stand up while the RV is in motion...or you will get bad bruises all over your body.

We just got a new camera so we took scarlett to the park the other day and took some pictures of her. it was freezing so we only stayed for ten minutes...maybe. but it was a fun ten minutes. then she went home and went potty(she is going to kill me for posting that picture someday) and then she took a bath. these pictures are here to document two hours in the life of scarlett and owen. he slept in his car seat the whole time we were at the park, so there aren't any pictures of him. but we did get bath pictures!

owen is smiling and cooing. he weighs 12 lbs the last time i checked. he is so different from scarlett. he sleeps in his own bed and likes it. he falls asleep on his own. really...he loves to sleep. and when he is awake he likes to look at everything. he is such a good baby...so was scarlett but she had some sleep issues and still does. i have two really good kids.

life lessons

i feel like i have learned a lot in the last year about being a mom. i have been taking a class at the college here called a biblical perspective on relationships. it has been so great, i am so glad i took it. i am learning a lot about how to have a good relationship with my kids and my husband. i have also recently came to the realization that i do way too much. so i have let go of a lot of my responsibilities and let mike help me out with them, so that i can be the mom i want to be. i get to do all kinds of stuff with my kids that i didn't get to do before. i am a more patient mom and scarlett is really benefiting from it. i am learning how to parent so that my kids will hopefully be well rounded responsible adults. i think the key to being a great parent is loving the heck out of you kids and showing them who god is by your actions as a parent. i am trying to let scarlett make some decisions on her own by giving her choices. just spanking your kids when they do something wrong is not the most effective way to do things. i think there is a time for spankings. but i think by putting them in time out and taking away privileges is also really effective. i think if we all try to be a good parent to our kids we can't go wrong. we need to love them enough to discipline them, and i think there is more than one way to do that.

scarlett is finally potty trained! well i shouldn't say finally, i haven't been pushing her to do it. i just thought i would wait until she decided to do it herself. and she has decided that going potty in a potty is a great thing. i am so proud of her!
